A Hundred Gourds: A haiku, haibun, haiga & tanka poetry journal

Still to this very day there are those in academia and elsewhere who think haiku is a "low-culture" form and not to be taken seriously. A goal of mine with publishing these poems is to inspire others to take up writing haiku.

Reading and writing haiku can be an effective healing process, whether in dealing with grief or depression. I hope too that more people will read and be influenced by Nick Virgilio, or even other great contemporary haiku poets.

Two exceptional local poets who also influenced me are Rocky Wilson and Lamont B. As Lamont always says, walk in beauty, and, write until your last breath. The book is done. Any questions or concerns please email me at poetryandpoverty gmail.
